Starting something new without enough money

Starting something new without enough money is a big big problem. As all of us entrepreneurs know there is never too much money. The more we have...the more we feel we could have done better if we had more.

Vicious circle.

But the basic problem most entrepreneurs i have come across is that what you need to start something new is not much. At best you need monies to sustain yourself in your industry until such time as you can get in an external investor or develop a proof of concept that can attract VC's. Many of us are unwillin to stake all in our entrepreneurial dreams i have realised, especially those who quit perfectly good jobs to pursue an entrepreneurial dream.

The safety net that a monthly salary provides is a big addiction..possibly the worst addiction an entrepreneur can possibly have. it took me over 3 years to finally bite the bullet and kick my salary for a no salary position when i started off about a year ago.

But when i did, i knew that i had to give it my best shot no matter what. So a bunch of us did exactly that. We hocked our PF's, our credit cards, our life savings, our homes and put it all into our company.

It was scary ! I was looking at the road if things did not work out. But as i said to one incredulous friend who came to know of our position . He asked me " what will you do if it doesn't work ?". My reply was " My back is so against the wall that the only direction to move is forward."

And to all budding entrepreneurs out there..that's the gist of what we all need to do. Move forward. The initial months were bad and stressful but we got around it thankfully enough to be able actually invest in another start up when the opportunity came our way 9 months down the line!!

Not that we are out of the red personally speaking..but we are getting there..One investment round i all that will take to propel our group into the big league...
